Union Jack UK St George liberation Guernsey Jersey channel islands Flag 75th
To commemorate the 75th Liberation of Guernsey and Jersey, we have commisioned a series of collectible items to treasure, honouring both the liberating troops within Force 135, and the Islanders that had endured years of occupation. Durung the occupation, the Channel Islands jurisdictions, did not have their own island flags, and often used either the St George Cross, or the Union Flag, to show loyalty to the Islands head of state, Queen Elizabeth II. Even today, the Union flag is seem accompanying the now official islands flags on goverment buildings, and is heavily used during the Liberation Celebrations.
